I am moving within Norwood. How do I transfer my Electric Service?

  • Name as shown on your bill
  • Current Service Location
  • Current Account Number
  • New Service Location
  • New Service Connect Date
  • New Service Meter Number *Your landlord should be able to provide this information.
I am PURCHASING a home. How do I sign up for electric service?  
  • If you are purchasing property in Norwood you can register for electric service 48 hours AFTER  the closing by calling 781-948-1200.  Power will NOT be shut off during transfer of ownership.
    Please provide us with:
    • Your name
    • Mailing address
    • Phone Number
    • Closing date

(If the passing does not go through on the scheduled date, please call the billing office at 781-948-1200 as soon as possible.)

I am RENTING a home/apartment. How do I sign up for electric service?
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE CONTINUING
  • If you are renting property, register for electric service by completing the online application and attaching copies of the following documents:
    • You will need the meter number associated with your service in order to submit your online application.  Your landlord should be able to provide this information.
    • Your Photo ID
    • Your Social Security card or official government document (i.e. tax form) the Social Security number (All 9 digits must be visible). A $100 deposit will be required to establish service if Social Security documents are not provided.
    • A copy of the front page of your lease which shows the tenant’s name(s), service location and the move in date. If a copy of the lease is not available, we will accept a letter from the landlord with the same information.

If you are unable to submit the online form you may access a printable application here.  The application and documents can be emailed to: businessoffice@norwoodlight.com or delivered to our office at 136 Access Road, Norwood.

Any past due balance from another location must be paid in full before service will be granted.

You will receive confirmation that you have registered for service.  If you do not receive this confirmation within 3 business days please contact our office at 781-948-1100.

Business Customers 

How do I register for electric service?
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE CONTINUING
  • To register a business for electric service you must provide a copy of your Business Certificate, pay a deposit, and complete the application.
    • The deposit amount varies, it is based on the size of service and will be added to your first bill. This amount will be documented in the confirmation letter you receive after registering.
    • If you do not already have an active business certificate you will need to apply through the Town Clerks office by clicking here.  (Please note that while the Town does not require a Business Certificate for all business types, it is required for electric service per our Terms and Conditions.
    • Please note: The application cannot be submitted without attaching the business certificate.
  • The application requires the meter number associated with the service location. Your landlord should be able to provide this information.

When ready to proceed, click here to access the online application.  You will receive a confirmation letter within 3 business days.  If you do not receive it within that time frame, please contact our office at 781-948-1100.
