Experiencing slow speeds or a dropped connection can be frustrating. Before you call us, you can quickly resolve most common issues right from home! This guide walks you through easy steps to troubleshoot your NLB eero router and optimize your internet and Wi-Fi service.

1. Power Cycle Your eero (The First Fix)
If your internet seems slow or disconnected, the quickest fix is a simple restart:

Restart NLB eero Router: Unplug the device for 30–60 seconds, then plug it back in.

Wait 2–3 minutes for everything to fully reboot.

Check the Light: If your eero is showing solid white, you’re online and good to go.

IMPORTANT WARNING: DO NOT FACTORY RESET THE DEVICE. This will erase all your custom settings and network configuration.

2. Check Your Physical Connections
A loose cable is a common culprit for connection issues:

Check for Loose or Damaged Cables: Make sure all Ethernet Wires are firmly plugged in at both ends.

Inspect cables for any visible damage or fraying.

3. Optimize Your Wi-Fi Environment
Improve your speed and stability by adjusting how your devices connect:

Move Closer to the Router: If you have weak Wi-Fi, get closer to your router or eliminate walls and large obstacles between your device and the eero.

Avoid Interference: Steer clear of interference from household items like microwaves, baby monitors, or cordless phones.

Know Your Bands: Use the 5GHz band for speed (good for streaming/gaming when close) and the 2.4GHz band for range (better for general browsing across the house).

Use Ethernet Instead of Wi-Fi: For mission-critical tasks like gaming, streaming, or work, wired connections are always faster and more stable.

4. Fine-Tune Your Devices and Settings
Sometimes the problem is with the device trying to connect, not the network itself:

Forget and Reconnect to Wi-Fi: On your device (phone, laptop, etc.), select “Forget” the Wi-Fi network, then reconnect and re-enter the password. This clears corrupted network settings.

Limit Devices or Bandwidth-Hogs: Disconnect unused devices. You can also pause or limit downloads/streaming that hog bandwidth directly through the eero App.

Update Firmware and Drivers: Log in to your router via the eero App and check for firmware updates. Also, update Wi-Fi/network drivers on your computer or other devices.

5. Advanced Testing: Bypass the Router
Bypass Router for Testing: Connect your computer directly to the ONT (Optical Network Terminal) via an Ethernet cable. If the internet works flawlessly this way, the issue lies with the eero router itself.
